The Legislative Commission on Expenditure Review (LCER) has recently produced a program audit for educational television (ETV) in New York State. This report by the State Education Department is a response to that evaluation, stating that "the audit is replete with errors in fact, both historical and statistical, misunderstandings, misrepresentations, innuendoes, and unsubstantiated accusations." The response deals largely with the Bureau of Mass Communications; it is specific and follows the organization of the audit report, covering areas such as classroom communications, the Bureau of Mass Communications, charts and graphs, the Regents TV fund, production, the duplication and distribution service, aid programs to ETV councils, the ETV councils, and an overview of ETV.
