Towards Modern Management in Radio and Television. (International Colloquy, Brussels, May 1972.)
European Broadcasting Union, Geneva (Switzerland).
Individuals involved in all aspects of radio and television in the member countries of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) met to exchange ideas. Their focus was upon how the modern management methods which their large scale industrial communications enterprises required might be adapted to the specific needs of their cultural mission. The report of the conference presents the papers read by the speakers, followed by a summary of the discussions of their ideas by all the participants. Five main topics are considered: 1) the possibility of applying modern management techniques to cultural organizations like radio and television; 2) personnel management issues; 3) the financial aspects of management; 4) computerization and electronic data processing as management tools; and 5) structural organization in radio and television.
