Demographic and health data on Glenville, one of the major distressed inner-city areas of Cleveland, were brought together to identify health needs and develop the resources and services necessary to meet these needs. The lack of physicians and primary health care programs in the area is compounded by the large number of low-income and public assistance families. City and county health programs involve a small number of specialized services with limited impact on the total population. Environmental problems, especially housing, the degrees of resident health knowledge, and the existence of nutritional deficiencies are a few of the problems which should be carefully examined.
