The primary objective of the Regional English Language Center (RELC) is the improvement of standards of teaching and learning English as a second or foreign language in the countries of Southeast Asia: Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. This report on the RELC seminar on English language testing contains the papers presented at the plenary sessions of the meeting as well as summaries of the discussion from each session; also included are supplementary papers and reports from the workshops held during the meeting. Topics include a variety of issues in English language testing from general subjects, such as the present status of language testing in the member countries and the role of contrastive analysis in English language testing, to more specific remarks on English language testing, university entrance requirements, and papers on the testing of particular language skills.
