This report is a summary of a project utilizing subprofessionals in the field of social work. Conducted in the Jacksonville, Florida area in 1968, the project demonstrated that subprofessionals could successfully perform a wide variety of tasks formerly assigned to social workers. Although early resistance on the part of social workers was apparent, it soom disappeared and the subprofessionals became indispensable to the service delivery system. Evidenced as well was an improvement in the lives of the newly-employed individuals and their families. (Author/SN)
