Presented in this report is an extension of the feasibility and follow-up studies on computer-assisted instruction (CAI) in the U.S. Army's Basic Electronic Training Course. The report is oriented toward demonstrating the viability of CAI coping with a large block (102 hours) of material under real-time training conditions. This evaluation is a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of CAI as a teaching system relative to the conventional mode of instruction. Included in the study are data on student achievement and attitudes toward CAI. (Author)
