In this series of United Nations documents, reports of action by the 27th General Assembly are covered. Draft resolutions introduced by various governments are furnished together with press releases which summarize the statements made by the governments participating in the debate of the Second Committee. These resolutions and statements are of importance to those interested in international aspects of the protection of the environment. They reveal the various interests and concerns of the governments and groups of governments as well as the attitudes and problems which will continue to be factors affecting the development of programs for international and cooperative action. A statement by Maurice Strong, Secretary-General of the UN Conference on the Human Environment, before the General Assembly, is also supplied. This document has been prepared as a service to facilitate communication and cooperation between non-governmental organizations, the United Nations and member governments for the protection of the human environment.
