An Instructional Model for Preparing Accounting/Computing Clerks in Michigan Secondary School Office Education Programs, Part I and Part II.
Moskovis, L. Michael; McKitrick, Max O.
Outlined in this two-part document is a model for the implementation of a business-industry oriented program designed to provide high school seniors with updated training in the skills and concepts necessary for developing competencies in entry-level and second-level accounting jobs that involve accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll operations. Devised through task analyses conducted by a team of 13 accounting/bookkeeping teachers in southwestern Michigan, the model provides for 64 clock hours of instruction, which may be extended to 180 hours for the training of other types of accounting clerks. To be conducted in a simulated office type setting, the model is set up to accommodate from 20 to 24 students. Performance objectives, learning activities, student directions, definitions of terms used, and evaluation instruments are included for each of the three concepts in which instruction and practice are given.
