The teacher's edition for the Intermediate Science Curriculum Study Level III unit entitled "Well-Being" provides instructions for teachers. The main thrust of this unit is on examining some principles of human physiology and how these are affected by various substances. A brief introduction dealing with concepts of food, smoking, alcohol, and other drugs as related to human physiology is given in the beginning. Various chapters included in the unit are "Take It Off;""Where There's Smoke, There's Fire;""Chemicals and Your Body;""You're Down Before You're Up;""Wake Up and See Things;" and "Should it be Against the Law." Detailed instructions for teachers are provided for each chapter separately. In addition, instructions are included for eleven "excursion" activities which are based on each chapter in the unit. Specific instructions for equipment, preparation, and precautions are included at appropriate places. (PS)
