The program tries to involve third grade children in the cities' problems by helping them feel they should participate in discovering the causes of the major problems cities face. The book is problem oriented, dealing with social and physical realities, intended to help children discover the reasons for conflict and imperfections in society. An interdisciplinary approach uses economics as a core for the other social sciences. Specific cities are profiled, such as Athens, Calcutta, London, Rotterdam, and New York.
