U.S. Metric Study Interim Report: Nonmanufacturing Businesses.
National Bureau of Standards (DOC), Washington, DC.
This is the fifth in a series of reports from the U. S. Metric Study, conducted by the National Bureau of Standards, designed to cover the nonmanufacturing segment of the economy representing about 65 percent of the total U. S. employment: mining, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, construction, transportation, communications, utilities, wholesale/retail trade, finance, insurance, real estate, and services. Over 2,300 telephone interviews were completed with key personnel in the organizations. Information was obtained concerning knowledge of the metric system, attitudes toward conversion, company outputs, company processes, hypothetical future use of metric measurement, and anticipated problems and benefits from conversion. For related documents, see SE 014 409, 014 411, 014 412, and 012 591. (JM)
