Schools, Pupils, and Teachers. Ontario's Educative Society Series, Volume Three.
Fleming, W. G.
Volume III, part of a series described in SO 003 093, covers evaluation of the school structure and curricula, and attempts to show how the process of education has operated up through the secondary level. Emphasis is upon the basic units in the educational system: student, teacher, and school. Aims of education are examined, historically and philosophically, and the development of various types of schools are described. Evolution of major curricular practices and concepts prevailing in Ontario schools down through the years are traced. Detailed analyses of change made in science, social sciences, and French, along with examination of strategies and methods, are provided. The book presents an analysis of the use of educational media, a description of educational facilities, a discussion on the role and status of teachers and teacher welfare, and devotes a chapter to the provincial Committee on Aims and Objectives of Education in the Schools of Ontario, among other topics. Related documents are SO 003 093 through SO 003 097. (Author/SJM)
