The Expansion of the Educational System. Ontario's Educative Society Series, Volume One.
Fleming, W. G.
"Ontario's Educative Society," volumes one through seven, provides in descriptive manner a comprehensive study of the educational system in this province. Early educational development is scanned from the 19th century to the present, with focus upon the recent period. Purposes of this first volume are: to identify major issues and problems in education; to serve as a reference tool for many readers; and to offer a general introduction to the whole series. Major contemporary issues and problems are briefly discussed in the introduction, followed by seven chapters on topics describing quantitative growth of the educational system in the characteristics of population, school enrollment, the proliferation of educational institutions, university enrollment, enrollment in other post-secondary institutions, characteristics of teachers, and the financing of education. The 46 charts and 225 tables provide specialized statistical data. Related documents are: SO 003 094 through SO 003 097. (Author/SJM)
