A Manual on the Construction of an Indexing Language Using Educational Technology as an Example.
Croghan, Antony
The aim of this manual is to describe a method for the construction of an indexing language or languages. It is intended to be a practical work, though it is based upon the theory of Faceted Classification. The method used is to construct a faceted classification based upon an analysis of the literature to be indexed. This becomes the basic language which may then be used to provide a preco-ordinate classification or subject headings or a language for post co-ordinate indexing or any combination of these that may be needed. The methods of making these are described and an example is given of every stage in the process using for the example the subject of educational technology. (Author/SJ)
