This booklet is one of a series primarily intended for those engaged in or preparing for educational planning and administration, especially in developing countries; and for those government officials and civic leaders who seek a more general understanding of educational planning and its role in overall national development. The text examines three aspects of demographic analysis of concern to educational planners: (1) the age and sex distribution that enables the planner to measure the size of school-age population; (2) the distribution by economic activity that allows the planner to project manpower requirements; and (3) the geographic distribution that helps him choose types, sizes, and locations of schools.
