An Analysis of Area Vocational Centers in Illinois. Final Report.
Anderson, Edward T.; Zook, Wayne H.
The purpose of this study was to quantitatively assess 17 secondary area vocational centers in Illinois. Data were intended for use in the decision-making process relative to new programs, and were not used as a means of comparing the efficiency or effectiveness of the centers studied. Factors included in the study were the length of operation, physical facilities, number of students, financial structure, curriculum, growth and trends, and community impact. Also, an effort was made to identify and analyze population groups and employment opportunities, relationships with junior colleges, and the population not being served. Data collection was broken into two phases and the study was based on information from the 1969-1970 school year. It was concluded that in order to achieve total statewide planning, the aspects of articulation, administration, accountability, approval, and continuation are essential to develop an efficient and effective concept.
