Biological Sciences Curriculum Study Newsletter Number 46, Evaluation Issue.
Clark, George M., Ed.
This entire issue of the Biological Sciences Curriculum Study (BSCS) Newsletter is concerned with evaluation. In addition to introductory essays on the function of evaluation in curriculum evaluation, especially formative evaluation, the issue contains summaries of the evaluation studies of three newer BSCS products: "Biological Science: Patterns and Processes," a course designed for the "academically unsuccessful student," and two products of the BSCS project for the Educable Mentally Handicapped (EMH), "Me Now" (for the ages 11-13) and "Me and My Environment" (for 13-15 year old students). These summaries are not complete reports but are used to illustrate techniques of evaluation, and to summarize some of the major findings. (Full reports are available for the first two products in ED 039 149 and ED 043 182, respectively.) Notes on new BSCS publications and on the activities of the BSCS staff are included. (AL)
