This training manual was developed to provide newly appointed first-line supervisors in vocational rehabilitation with principles and techniques of casework supervision. Chapters cover: (1) agency goals and the function of the supervisor in establishing, maintaining, and involving those he supervises in the goal-setting and goal-reaching process, (2) consultation within and outside of the agency, (3) observing and evaluating the service-giving that occurs under the supervisor's direction, (4) training provided by the supervisor, (5) communication and inter-personal relationships, (6) professional and personal growth, and (7) management and supervision of the district office.
