Vietnamese Familiarization Course.
Quang, Nguyen-Hy; Jorden, Eleanor H.
This course provides an introduction to Vietnamese as spoken in South Vietnam. The most basic structural patterns of the language have been introduced along with vocabulary that is considered to be useful for Americans in Vietnam. The course, designed for classroom use, is suitable for self-instructional use with the use of accompanying tape recordings. Each of 12 lessons requires memorization of a basic dialogue and includes brief discussions of new patterns introduced in the lesson. Substitution, transformation, response, expansion, and combination drills are used to help develop conversational fluency. English translation of the Vietnamese script is included. (RL)
