Sonrai Basic Course. Final Report.
Konare, Mamadou
The main objective of this basic course is to teach the student to speak Sonray. The main learning devices used in the lessons are short dialogues which are to be memorized and are utilized to introduce new grammatical patterns. The dialogues are followed by several types of drills, designed to make the students familiar with a particular pattern. Substitution, chain, question and answer, conversation, transformation, and translation drills are all used to enable the students to understand and use the new patterns and vocabulary. The book gives simple explanations for the grammatical structures. Vocabulary lists appear at the end of each lesson; the complete list appears at the end of the textbook. Later lessons include reading texts. A description of the phonology of Sonray is given in the introductory remarks. (VM)
