Social Environments for a Regional Centre for the Hearing Handicapped. A Pre-Architectural Investigation and Recommendation.
Ontario Dept. of Education, Toronto. School Planning and Building Research Section.
This report explores environmental alternatives and optimums for a regional center for hearing impairment. The intent is to inform planners, architects, and educators of needs that are hopefully translatable into socially purposeful architecture. The objective is to encourage environmental solutions that reflect the educational concerns and social implications of the programs for the hearing handicapped in Ontario. The report attempts to specify how places and events in a regional center might relate to one another and to identify those elements of physical plans and social organization patterns that create "institutional" building forms and environments.
