This paper advocates environmental education as a solution to environmental problems. It defines environmental education in terms of its goals; 1) the survival of man and the improvement of his life; 2) its relationship with academic disciplines and informal education; and, 3) its values and principles in relation to democracy. The main focus of the paper is on the strategies and curricula of environmental education programs, both in schools and in the community at large.
