Learning About Politics: A Reader in Political Socialization.
Sigel, Roberta S.
This collection of readings was first assembled in order to bring together materials for a course at Wayne State University focusing on the conditions of change and conflict in the political socialization process. The first chapter, Learning and Development, concentrates on the mechanics of this learning process. The next five chapters The Family, Personality and Politics, the School, College and University, and The Peer Group are directed toward these questions: Who is it that socializes the young and the not-so-young; and, Who are the agents and institutions engaged in this practice? The last three chapters of this book are: The Importance of Role; Source of Conformity and Deviancy; and, Change, Conflict, and Socialization. (Author/AWW)
