Symposium activities included presentations on the state of the art in driver education and related fields; the communication of the plans, policies, and programs of the National Highway Safety Bureau (NHSB) to public schools, nonpublic schools, and commercial driving schools; and information exchange between the NHSB professional personnel in each type of school. Seminars, papers, and other symposium events were set up to facilitate communication between featured speakers and other participants. Such issues and concerns as training techniques, staffing, evaluation of programs and students, and proprietary school standards and certification, were considered.
