A Survey and Analysis of the Educational Tasks of Ohio's Post High School Technical Instructors: Implications for Teacher Education.
Andreyka, Robert E.
To determine technical instructors' attitudes regarding their educational tasks, this study analyzed their backgrounds, as well as their perceptions of their tasks and needs. A questionnaire mailed to 530 postsecondary technical instructors in Ohio resulted in nearly 400 usable responses. The respondents were classified by technology groups, and the results were compared for differences. Statistical analysis of the responses of the full-time instructors, who were found to identify the significant tasks more accurately than part-time instructors, showed several areas of competence important for technical teaching. These results affect program planning for technical teacher education. This Ph.D. dissertation was submitted to Kent State University. (BH)
