The book presents and discusses techniques ministers and laymen can use to bring about personal growth and social change, and to devise tactics for dealing with today's major social problems. Among the many matters specifically discussed are: how personal growth can best be facilitated; requirements for creative relationships in families and small groups; how to overcome obstacles to growth-producing communication; skill practice in listening; the effectiveness of a onesided or a pro and con presentation; crucial target groups in contemporary culture; how to gain entrance into elite dominated power structures; and how to handle conflict with extremists creatively. The book illustrates the possibilities of an interdisciplinary approach including psychological, sociological and theological elements to planning for changes that will both help the individuals to grow and make the institutions more person-serving.
