Intended to be used in conjunction with a traditional curriculum, this book demonstrates the use of the computer, especially the on-line, interactive type of computer, to solve a variety of problems studied in secondary school mathematics. Each chapter presents several problems, and each problem introduces one or two concepts that must be understood if the student is to become proficient in solving problems and writing programs. The student is introduced to the operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; the elements of the BASIC (Beginner's All Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code) language; and flow charting. Courses in which designated problems can be used are: arithmetic, elementary algebra, intermediate algebra, geometry, and advanced algebra and analysis.
