Drawing upon his experience as a white man who "changed his pigmentation" and lived the life of a black man, the author attempts "to put you in another man's mind" and apply his experience to today's events. In addition, he seeks to show that there is a wide gap between intellectual acceptance of equality and real emotional acceptance. This gap perpetuates what he calls "the system" and explains in part the increased militancy of the black man in America today. (Author/DM)
