Requirements in the Field of Geology.
Reeves, Robert G.; Delo, David M.
Reported are the results of a survey designed to gather data for the design and revision of undergraduate earth science curricula. Responses to questionnaires reflected opinions on the effectiveness and relevance of respondents' education to their practice of geology. Contained on the questionnaire were items regarding subjects, concepts, theories, techniques, and information typically encountered by a geologist in his education and practice. Results indicated show that only 24 percent of the items were considered useful or vital to more than 50 percent of the respondents. The useful and vital items selected by 75 percent of the respondents constituted only 5 percent of the items. Eleven hundred and five earth scientists completed the survey. (PR)
