Studies have shown that many approaches developed for work with the disadvantaged work as well with adult students at all levels who are learning a variety of subjects and skills. Some of these techniques--programed instruction, students teaching other students, individualization of instruction with free and low-cost materials--are described in this booklet. Also discussed are: lively instruction using educational technology; guidance; listening and person-to-person communication; the town as a teaching tool; and testing and evaluating adult students.
