Using federal, state, and local funds, the Work Opportunity Center provides guidance, skill training, and supportive services for the dropout and/or hard-core unemployed youth 16 to 21 years of age. This paper describes the social communications course offered by the Center. Offering individual as well as group coverage, the course includes independent study in psychology, government, labor unions, and human relations. Student interests and needs are given primary attention. The course is designed to develop the student's ability to think and interact with others in order to achieve personal happiness and vocational adjustment.
