Negro Higher Education in the 1960's. Praeger Special Studies in U.S. Economic and Social Development.
Jaffe, A. J.; And Others
The survey data referred to in this specialized research monograph are almost exclusively related to Southern, primarily, Negro colleges and the students who attend them. The study attempts to evaluate the activities of these colleges in relation to the more general problem of higher education for disadvantaged minorities, and to determine the degree of their success or failure. In arriving at the study's findings, and implications thereof for educational policies and programs, some of the factors which have influenced the continuing growth of these colleges, and the factors working for and against the separate Negro college are considered. Appended to the study are extensive statistical tables, results of three questionnaire surveys conducted, projections of educational attainment of Southern Negro youth, and samples of the survey questionnaire forms.
