Emerging Trends in Administering Pupil Personnel Services.
Paterson, John G.
This paper discusses developments in pupil personnel services in Canadian schools. These services are defined as professional services, other than classroom instruction and school administration, that are offered by the school to help students attain their maximum personal development, and further, to facilitate the efforts of parents and teachers in the guiding and teaching-learning process. Suggestions for improvement are that (1) all professional personnel working in schools should have a background of training and experience in education, (2) the pupil services administrator should be an administrative staff member with rank, and (3) universities should be alerted to the responsibility of bringing professional training to communities other than large cities.
