Computer Dissemination of Current Literature, An Over-All Evaluation.
Sage, C. R.
A resume of the Ames Laboratory Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) Computer System is presented. The results of three types of evaluation studies made of the Ames Laboratory SDI systems are discussed which include: evaluation of model studies utilizing restricted document and user sample sizes; statistical evaluation of production runs involving 177,180 document entries and 83 profiles; and evaluation of user participation through comments of users taken from a survey. Suggestions are made, as a result of the evaluation, that SDI incorporating the 'feedback concept' would be feasible and practical for application towards a national and/or regional computer current awareness service.
