New England Heritage. The Connecticut River National Recreation Area Study.
Bureau of Outdoor Recreation (Dept. of Interior), Washington, DC.
The findings and recommendations of the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation study of the Connecticut River Valley in response to P. L. 89-616, 89th Congress, are presented in this document. Federal, State, and private action is recommended which would provide recreation opportunities for several million persons; and would preserve the historical significance, the beauty, and the functional uses of the river and its surrounding areas. Many factors relating to the present and future uses of the Connecticut River Valley are considered in the formulation of the recommendations, including land use, geology, current and anticipated recreation participation, socioeconomic characteristics, water quality, and transportation. Numerous illustrations, maps, and tables are included which add significantly to the report. (SW)
