Recent literature reflecting the impact of technological change on the occupational distribution of the labor force and on work patterns and skills is reviewed. Social and policy implications of technological change which are considered include mechanisms for improving the coordination between labor supply and demand and the problems and prospects of a future leisure society. The effect of technological advancement on the occupational distribution of the labor force is discussed in reference to professional, technical, skilled, unskilled, blue collar and white collar workers. Also 13 abstracts of materials published since 1966 are included. The effects of technological change on work patterns and skills deals primarily with the nature of the worker response to technological change and the question of whether skills levels are raised or lowered as a consequence of automation. Abstracts of 17 books and articles published since 1965 are included. The effects of technology on the problems of social choice in the allocation of resources amon g productivity, leisure and retaining goals is discussed, accompanied by 16 abstracts of materials published in 1965 or later.
