Conventional Gymnasium vs. Geodesic Field House. A Comparative Study of High School Physical Education and Assembly Facilities.
Educational Facilities Labs., Inc., New York, NY.
A description is presented of the design features of a high school's geodesic dome field house. Following consideration of various design features and criteria for the physical education facility, a comprehensive analysis is given of comparative costs of a geodesic dome field house and conventional gymnasium. On the basis of the study it would appear that school systems seeking better accommodation for their physical education program would do well to consider the use of geodesic structure. Graphic illustrations are included. (FS)
