Jessen, Barbara Lee; Kaess, Dale W. – Journal of Genetic Psychology, 1973
The study tested the existence of communication between visual and haptic senses with 3- and 5-year-old children. Major finding: only visual-haptic training improved performance on the haptic indentification test. Apparently there was no transfer across sense modalities. (ST)

Sheingold, Karen – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1973
This study investigates the visual information storage capacity in 5-, 8-, 11-, and 21-year olds. A partial report technique is used to assess the amount of information that children can take in and what the course of information loss was over time. (DP)

Boyd, Elizabeth – Journal of Research and Development in Education, 1973
Two theoretical models of visual attention and contingent learning were presented to provide a framework for the consideration of how observed individual differences in infant behavior may interact with nonsocial stimuli and caretaker-mediated stimuli to influence the individual's development of patterns of visual attention and contingency…

Richards, D. A. – Physics Education, 1973
Discusses the visual and photographic methods and the design features of a camera at Aberystwyth with a brief justification for satellite tracking. Indicates that satellite measurements have been used to determine the shape of the earth and diurnal variations in atmospherical densities. (CC)

Begg, Ian – Canadian Journal of Psychology, 1973
Studies support the hypothesis that images aroused by discreet verbal stimuli can be integrated into complex images with the result that: (a) storage capacity requirements are reduced, and (b) recall of one component of the image leads to effective redintegration of the rest. (JB)

Meyer, Timothy P. – Journal of Broadcasting, 1973
The question of how children perceive TV and film violence incidents in justified and unjustified contexts in comparison with already known adult perceptions is the basis for this study. (Author)

Cronin, Virginia – Developmental Psychology, 1973
Study shows that there are differences in the information-processing capacities of touch and vision and that these differences are influenced by a variety of factors. (Author)

Wolff, Peter – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1972
Children from 4 to 7 years of age were tested in a structured perceptual task in which haptic manipulation was available, but not required. The extent of haptic involvement with the stimulus material and its effect on performance in a perceptual recognition task was then determined. (Author/CB)
