Neale, Marie D.; And Others – Exceptional Child, 1979
A multivariate analysis of variance, using three factors obtained from a preschool developmental index (Neale Scales) as the dependent variables, and group membership based on subsequent longitudinal reading performance as the independent variables, resulted in a significant multivariate F for a sample of 204 kindergarten children. Hansen, Chris J.; Zytowski, Donald G. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
A measure of the extent to which the Kuder Occupational Interest Survey (KOIS) was predictive of occupational membership for an individual was correlated with KOIS item and scale scores. Results indicated that the KOIS was a moderator of its own predictive validity. (Author/JKS)

Pohlman, Mary; And Others – Evaluation and the Health Professions, 1979
A simulated Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) was administered to 39 premedical students two weeks prior to the new MCAT. High correlations between simulated and active test scores were obtained in the biology, chemistry, physics, science problems, reading, and quantitative areas. (MH)

Renz, Laurie – Journal of College Student Personnel, 1976
In this study, residence hall advisers received training in achieving facilitative counseling conditions. Based on previous research, it was hypothesized that there would be differences in job performance effectiveness depending on the learning curves generated during training. The hypothesis was supported and implications for residence hall…

Stewart, Donald W. – Canadian Journal of Counselling, 1996
Reports on the initial results of a predictive validity study of the College Maladjustment (Mt) Scale. Results indicate that Mt scale scores were significantly associated with total number of client contacts, number of scheduled appointments, frequency of contacts, and number of cancellations. Suggests that Mt scale has some predictive validity.…

Kluever, Raymond C.; Green, Kathy E. – Roeper Review, 1990
Composite scores for 51 gifted children (ages 3-12) on the Stanford-Binet LM were found to be significantly higher than scores on the Stanford-Binet 4th Edition. Correlations between the LM total and 4th Edition area scores were significant. Results suggest that the 4th Edition composite score cut-off value for assessing giftedness may require…

O'Brecht, Michael; And Others – Research in Higher Education, 1989
Survey data from 458 former health science graduate students were examined for correlations between variables that might be used in selecting research training award recipients and successful training outcome defined as a highly productive research career. Four variables that showed promise as useful indicators of posttraining research are…

McGaghie, William C. – Academic Medicine, 1990
Almost all applicants who have been admitted to medical school have obtained the M.D. degree. Given this success rate, an accepted applicant's economic security is guaranteed. Schools pay lip-service to the importance of students' character, motivation, etc., and continue to select students with high grades and MCAT scores. (Author/MLW)

Swanson, H. Lee – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1992
Two experiments involving 227 children aged 5 to 18 years suggest that working memory operates as a general system independent of the subject's reading skill and that dynamic testing procedures enhance predictions of reading performance. Individual differences in working memory do not appear restricted to an academic domain. (SLD)
