Dozois, David J. A.; Ahnberg, Jamie L.; Dobson, Keith S. – Psychological Assessment, 1998
Provides psychometric information on the second edition of the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II) (A. Beck, R. Steer, and G. Brown, 1996) for internal consistency, factorial validity, and gender differences. Results indicate that the BDI-II is a stronger instrument than its predecessor in terms of factor structure. (SLD)

Lee, Frances Laimui; Yeung, Alexander Seeshing – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1999
Examined the factor structure of the responses of 487 Chinese high school students to the Verbal, Math, Academic, and General self-concept scales of the Self-Description Questionnaire-II administered in China at two time points. Results support the multidimensionality and domain specificity of academic self-concepts found in Western countries for…

Lim, Tock Keng – Educational Psychology: An International Journal of Experimental Educational Psychology, 1996
Uses exploratory factor-analysis and confirmatory factor-analysis to identify and cross-validate the factorial structure underlying two group intelligence tests and two group-Piagetian tests. Establishes a high degree of overlap between Piagetian and psychometric intelligence tests, most likely because both types of test appear to measure…

Wehmeyer, Michael L.; Palmer, Susan B. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1998
The psychometric properties of the Hopelessness Scale for Children (A. Kazdin et al., 1983) were examined for children and adolescents with mental retardation or a learning disability. Analyses of scores from 261 students shows a factor structure almost identical to the original structure and scale scores of adequate validity. (SLD)

Embretson, Susan E. – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1996
Comparison of the correlates of two spatial ability tests that used the same item type but different test design principles (cognitive design versus psychometric design) indicated differences in the factorial complexity of the two tests. For the sample of 209 undergraduates, the impact of verbal abilities was substantially reduced by applying the…

Villa, Aurelio; Calvete, Esther – Studies in Educational Evaluation, 2001
Developed an instrument to evaluate teachers' professional self-concept from a multidimensional perspective, focusing on the association between dimensions of self-concept and teacher burnout. Results for 378 secondary school teachers in the Basque Country (Spain) show that a six-factor model fit the data well and reveal numerous positive…

Erford, Bradley T.; Dorman, Stacy L.; Ivey, Elizabeth A.; Wingeart, Leah N. – Assessment for Effective Intervention, 2001
Four independent samples of children were used to study the reliability and validity of the Writing Essential Skill Screener, a measure designed to screen primary grade children at risk for writing difficulties. Among findings was that the measure is comprised of two dimensions, writing and name writing, that the factor structure did not fit the…

Peterson, N. Andrew; Speer, Paul W.; Hughey, Joseph – Journal of Community Psychology, 2006
Instability in the factor structure of the Sense of Community Index (SCI) was tested as a methodological artifact. Confirmatory factor analyses, tested with two data sets, supported neither the proposed one-factor nor the four-factor (needs fulfillment, group membership, influence, and emotional connection) SCI. Results demonstrated that the SCI…

Motl, Robert W.; Dishman, Rod K.; Dowda, Marsha; Pate, Russell R. – Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, 2004
The authors examined the factorial validity and factorial invariance of the 3-day physical activity recall (3DPAR) using confirmatory factor analysis. Adolescent girls from two cohorts (N=955, N=1,797) completed the 3DPAR in the eighth grade; participants in Cohort 2 (N=1,658) completed the 3DPAR again 1 year later in the ninth grade. The 3DPAR…

Morgan, Robert D.; Garland, J. Travis; Rozycki, Alicia T.; Reich, Darcy A.; Wilson, Scott – Journal for Specialists in Group Work, 2005
This study was designed to identify important process and content goals from the perspective of inmates and compare these goals to the goals identified by group therapists in a previous study conducted by Winterowd, Morgan, and Ferrell (2001). Utilizing survey data from 156 incarcerated adult males, an initial confirmatory factor analysis…

Yamnill, Siriporn; McLean, Gary N. – Human Resource Development Quarterly, 2005
To begin the validation process for the Learning Transfer System Inventory (LTSI) in Thailand, research replicating Holton, Bates, and Ruona's study (2000) was conducted in Thailand. The LTSI was administered to 1,029 employees. Exploratory factor analysis and MANOVA were used to identify factors. A factor structure almost identical to that of…

Canivez, Gary L. – Psychology in the Schools, 2004
Independent examination and replication of the core syndrome factor structure of the Adjustment Scales for Children and Adolescents (ASCA; McDermott, Marston, & Stott, 1993) is reported. A sample of 1,020 children were randomly selected from their classroom and rated on the ASCA by their teacher. The six ASCA core syndromes produced a…

Bowden, Stephen C.; Weiss, Lawrence G.; Holdnack, James A.; Lloyd, Delyth – Psychological Assessment, 2006
Examination of measurement invariance tests the assumption that the model underlying a set of test scores is directly comparable across groups. The observation of measurement invariance provides fundamental evidence for the inference that scores on a test afford equivalent measurement of the same psychological traits among diverse groups. Groups…

The LSAS-CA was administered to 225 children and adolescents as a component of various clinical studies. In addition, other measures of psychopathology and impairment were administered to a subgroup of the…

Grothe, Karen B.; Dutton, Gareth R.; Jones, Glenn N.; Bodenlos, Jamie; Ancona, Martin; Brantley, Phillip J. – Psychological Assessment, 2005
The psychometric properties of the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) are well established with primarily Caucasian samples. However, little is known about its reliability and validity with minority groups. This study evaluated the psychometric properties of the BDI-II in a sample of low-income African American medical outpatients (N = 220).…
