Miller, Maurice; And Others – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 1978
In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC) in discriminating auditory or visual deficits, 121 learning disabled children (mean age 100 months) were tested. (PHR)

Gottfried, Allen W.; And Others – Child Development, 1977
This study investigated infants' differential responding to novel and familiar stimuli after familiarization in a different sensory modality. Results showed that infants gain information about the shape of objects from their oral experience with them and that this information can be transferred to the visual modality. (Author/JMB)

Williams, Tannis MacBeth; Aiken, Leona S. – Developmental Psychology, 1977
Development of the relation between skills of visual and auditory pattern classification was studied at the second grade, sixth grade, and adult age levels using visual and auditory representations of the same abstract information. Results showed evidence of common processing of pattern class structure for the modalities, patterns, prototypes, and…

Tryjankowski, Elaine M. – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 1987
The study evaluated the construct validity of five perceptual traits with simulated work samples from the Jewish Vocational Service Work Sample System. Results with 36 learning disabled adolescents indicated that simulated work samples can be used as a diagnostic instrument for assessment of perceptual abilities in a vocational setting. (Author/DB)

Bornstein, Marc H.; Krinsky, Sharon J. – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1985
Four experiments assessed converging aspects of four-month-old infants' perceptions of visual patterns. Results together corroborate and extend previous findings that vertical symmetry has a special status in early perceptual development and that infants can perceive pattern wholes. (Author/AS)

Granrud, Carl E.; And Others – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1984
Compares monocular depth perception with binocular depth perception in five- to seven-month-old infants. Reaching preferences (dependent measure) observed in the monocular condition indicated sensitivity to monocular depth information. Binocular viewing resulted in a far more consistent tendency to reach for the nearer object. (Author)

Arrighi, Margarite A. – Journal of Physical Education and Recreation, 1976
The development of space awareness should facilitate effective playing and coaching through increased ability to observe spatial arrangements as they apply to game strategy. (JD)

Yonas, Albert; Hagen, Margaret – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1973
Results of this study suggest that 3-year-olds have a good deal of sensitivity to static depth information. (Authors)

Sroufe, L. Alan; Wunsch, Jane Piccard – Child Development, 1972
Results are discussed in terms of cognitive growth, the psychoanalytic notion of ambivalence, the role of stimulus context in eliciting laughter or fear, and a possible adaptive, stimulus-maintaining function of laughter. (Authors)

Blankenship, Elise – Journal of the Association for the Study of Perception, 1972
The brain-injured group performed with greater error scores and required more time to complete the tasks; although the brain-injured group took more time on the binocular tasks, their performance scores were similar to the nonbrain-injured group scores. (Author)

Walker, B. S.; Little, D. F. – J Counseling Psychol, 1969
Describes administration and analysis of Inventory. Factors obtained from analysis were interpreted as "nonevaluative acceptance psychological insight, and likability. (Author/CJ)
