This paper presents a critical review of research which has been offered in support of training programs that focus on Human Relations Development as proposed by Robert Carkhuff. Responses from 331 elderly mothers and 261 elderly fathers were compared on four indexes of filial responsibility expectations with significant gender differences being found in two of the four measures. This paper examines the relationship between level of need for achievement (n-Ach) and degree of achievement opportunity on the job and type of leisure time activities. Findings indicate people who are unable to satisfy their achievement needs on the job are likely to do so in their leisure time activities. (Author)

Relationships between cosmopolitan--local orientation and measures of job performance were examined for 150 technical employees in three architectural firms. Cosmopolitan orientation was positively related to supervisor ratings of following prescribed work hours and supervisor and co-worker ratings of impressing others. (Author)
