Results demonstrate that number can be abstracted from an array of elements in estimating. Estimation appears to be based on the perception of a higher order structure, and persons of 8 years and older are able to abstract the structure from an array of objects. Even 6-year-old children can be trained to estimate by abstracting number. (Author/RH)

The internal reliability of the Speech Sounds Perception Test was examined in two independent samples. Both indicated a significantly greater number of errors on the first half of the test; the largest number of errors occurred on Subtests B and A. Examines the impact of sexual satisfaction and the congruence of mates' perceptions on overall marital satisfaction in 290 people who had been married 18 to 32 years. Results showed respondents were, overall, satisfied with their marriages. The relationsihps were enhanced by empathy and congruence of perceptions. (Author/JAC)

Positive and negative sexual messages are communicated by parents to their children, verbally and nonverbally. The impact of parental messages upon the sexuality of youth appears relatively straightforward for males but quite complex for females.
