Sixty-two quantitative, lexical, and syntactic features in a corpus of 160 English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) texts were identified and counted, producing 28 text variables that were compared with ESL proficiency levels of the writers. The effect of repetition on grammatical change in an unrehearsed talk is examined based on a case study of a single learner.
