MCDONOUGH, J. – 1966
A STATISTICAL STUDY WAS MADE OF THE LIBRARIES OF 669 UNITED STATES LIBERAL ARTS COLLEGES. DATA WERE DISPLAYED IN FIVE DIFFERENT WAYS--(1) ALPHABETICAL LISTING, (2) EXCELLENCE QUOTIENT, (3) NUMBER OF BOOKS, (4) NUMBER OF BOOKS PER STUDENT, AND (5) TOTAL LIBRARY BUDGET FOR SALARIES. EXCELLENCE QUOTIENT WAS EXPRESSED IN TERMS OF A THREE-DIGIT…

Brossman, Sidney W. – New Directions for Community Colleges, 1976
In order to describe the scope of community service programs in the 103 California community colleges, a comprehensive survey instrument was designed and administered to the community service deans of the colleges. The data received from 85 colleges is presented here for the 1974-75 fiscal year. (NHM)

Carroll, Robert M.; Faden, Vivian B. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
Some sampling characteristics of three estimators of the intraclass correlation were investigated under a variety of conditions within the context of a one-way analysis of variance. The results promote caution in the use of all three estimators. The three estimators differed very little in their bias or in their standard errors. (Author/JKS)

Shaw, Dale G; And Others – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1987
Information loss occurs when continuous data are grouped in discrete intervals. After calculating the squared correlation coefficients between continuous data and corresponding grouped data for four population distributions, the effects of population distribution, number of intervals, and interval width on information loss and recovery were…

Aiken, Lewis R. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
Formulas for transforming scores and statistics on a rating scale having any number of categories to a scale having a different number of categories are described. To illustrate the use of one of the formulas, the means and variances of items on six forms of a course evaluation questionnaire were compared. (Author/LMO)

Berry, Kenneth J.; Mielke, Paul W., Jr. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
Subroutines to calculate exact chi square and Fisher's exact probability tests are presented for 3 by 2 cross-classification tables. A nondirectional probability value for each test is computed recursively. (Author/GDC)

Walkey, Frank H. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1986
A factor replication procedure (FACTOREP) was evaluated using four psychometrically equivalent synthetic correlation matrices containing an imposed three-subscale structure. Comparisons of the structure revealed by two, three, four, and nine-factor rotations using the FACTOREP showed that only the three factor solutions were replicable across all…

McGuire, Dennis P. – Psychometrika, 1986
A small data set is used to show that correlations and standard deviations measured within an explicitly selected group need not be smaller than those within an applicant population. Both validity and reliability estimates within a selected group can exceed those within an applicant population. (Author/LMO)

Wainer, Howard – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1986
An example demonstrates and explains that summary statistics commonly used to measure test quality can be seriously misleading and that summary statistics for the whole test are not sufficient for judging the quality of the test. (Author/LMO)

Brokken, Frank B. – Psychometrika, 1985
A generalized congruence maximization procedure for the case of m matrices is presented. The orthogonal rotation procedure simultaneously maximizes the sums of all coefficients of congruence between corresponding factors of m factor matrices. (NSF)

Halpin, Gerald; Halpin Glennelle – Psychology in the Schools, 1974
This study attempts to determine the extent of agreement on the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking scores among independent scorers with no training other than individual study of the scoring guides, and a scorer trained by Torrance. (Author)

Kimmel, Douglas; Van Der Veen, Ferdinand – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1974
Principal axis factor analysis with varimax rotations of data for 149 wives and 157 husbands indicated that the instrument is an internally consistent measure of marital adjustment, and that this general aspect consists of two separate components--sexual congeniality and compatibility. (Author)

Sanders, Frederick E. – Journal of English Teaching Techniques, 1971
The author describes a study of student teachers and whether they changed their responses to selected English teaching practices or general education ideas at the end of any of the three phases of their education semester. (MR)

Galvin, Hoyt; Asbury, Barbara – Library Journal, 1972
A statistical report on 191 public library building projects completed in the U.S.A. during the year ending June 30, 1972. A five-year cost summary is included as well as a table of new public library buildings constructed from July 1, 1971 to June 30, 1972. (Author/NH)

Graybeal, William S. – Junior Coll J, 1970
Selected aspects of the salary structure of 2-year institutions are reviewed. Salaries of faculty by level of highest academic preparation and of selected administrative positions are summarized for institutions grouped by source of control. Information presented is based on the National Education Association's Salaries in Higher Education,…
