Describes drug abuse in the military. Survey data of military personnel (N=15,268) revealed that single, enlisted males under age 25 were the population most at risk. Data on alcohol drinking practices were collected for Nigerian students (N=1,000) and results obtained by number of responses and percentages to items relating to alcohol drinking practices that defined alcohol abuse. Males (87 percent) and females (79 percent) reported that they drank; most exhibited a pattern of alcohol abuse. (Author/RC)

Studied the relationship between personality variables and alcohol abuse in college students. Results indicated that these personality variables were not strong predictors of alcohol abuse. However, subjects identified as being highly trait anxious or trait angry were more likely to abuse alcohol than subjects low on these variables. (Author)
