The results of the study indicate that model reinforcement counseling was effective in reducing the proportion of minimal goal discrepant children. The counseling helped the students set realistic goals with which they could be satisfied. The greatest amount of change took place in an inner city school. (Author)

Compared two levels of goal setting. In the first level adolescents were involved in setting goals for behavioral counseling. In the second level they were informed that goals were set, but were not involved. Results indicated greater degree of goal attainment and counseling satisfaction for participating pupils.
