Rushinek, Avi; Rushinek, Sara F. – Information Processing and Management, 1986
This study used multiple regression analysis to relate computer user satisfaction to communication monitor (CM) variables. Results indicate the variables of user expectations, manufacturers, and vendors are most significant in affecting overall satisfaction, whereas number of systems represented and not using communication monitors have least…

Fey, Marc E.; Stalker, Catherine H. – Journal of Speech and Hearing Disorders, 1986
Evaluation of a 6-year-old's phonological and morphological systems led to the development of three hypotheses regarding the nature of her language impairment which were then tested by monitoring the child's progress in therapy. Results suggested continuing reliance on simplification processes similar to these of younger normal children.…

Ceci, Stephen J.; Tishman, Jayne – Child Development, 1984
Two experiments examined hyperactive children's tendency to underfocus their attention during learning. Taken together, the results of both experiments demonstrated the validity of the attentional diffusion hypothesis and indicate the need to assess the central processing demands associated with central and incidental learning in order to evaluate…

Doreian, Patrick – Journal of the American Society for Information Science, 1985
Two journal-to-journal matrices for psychology in 1950 and 1960 are analyzed in terms of structural equivalence to test following hypotheses: that journals of a discipline function as a status-role relational system; that interdisciplinary journals are distant from journals of a field; that journal networks have a core-periphery structure. Hill, Peter W. – Evaluation in Education: An International Review Series, 1984
Building on Bloom's, and subsequent educational taxonomies, a larger, synthetic, theoretical basis, called the process hierarchy theory, is developed. Its relationship to general systems theory and its metatheoretical context are described. A general methodology for empirically testing aspects of the theory using mathematical modeling is explored.…

Harter, Stephen P. – College and Research Libraries, 1984
Findings of study of online searchers' self-supported behaviors and attitudes indicate that: there are wide individual differences among online searchers in attitudes and behaviors; searchers from academic institutions differ from counterparts in other library settings; experience appears to be positively related to flexible, trial-and-error…

Davison, Mark L. – Psychometrika, 1976
Proposes a quadratic programming, least squares solution to Carroll's weighted unfolding model with nonnegativity constraints imposed on weights. It can be used to test various hypotheses about the weighted unfolding model with or without constraints. (RC)
