Masse, Denis – Education Canada, 1970
The present level of participation by Canadian teachers in the school decision-making process is undesirably low. (CK)

Descriptors: Discrimination Learning, Hypothesis Testing, Information Processing, Learning Processes
Peer reviewedDenison, Daniel R. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1982
Structural equation modeling is applied in conjunction with constrained monotone distance analysis. These alternative methods are used in an evaluation of a social-psychological model derived from Likert's theory of organizational behavior. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Data Analysis, Hypothesis Testing, Mathematical Models, Multidimensional Scaling
Peer reviewedMessick, David M. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
Formulae and graphs are presented allowing computation of the variances of three prototypical distributions over a finite number of categories. The uses of the variances of the maximum variance distribution, the uniform distribution and a unimodal triangular distribution to make inferences about distribution shapes are shown in several examples.…
Descriptors: Analysis of Variance, Hypothesis Testing, Responses, Statistical Analysis
Peer reviewedMarascuilo, Leonard A.; Dagenais, Fred – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
Social science researchers tend to analyze two dimensional frequency tables using Pearson's Chi-square test, which can be improved upon if the dependent variable represents an ordered qualitative characteristic. An improved modification by the Kruskal-Wallis analysis of variance on ranks is shown for a planned and post hoc analysis. (Author/CM)
Descriptors: Analysis of Variance, Hypothesis Testing, Research Methodology, Social Science Research
Peer reviewedMolenaar, Ivo W. – Psychometrika, 1983
Goodness of fit tests for the Rasch model are typically large-sample, global measures. This paper offers suggestions for small-sample exploratory techniques for examining the fit of item data to the Rasch model. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Goodness of Fit, Hypothesis Testing, Item Analysis, Latent Trait Theory
Peer reviewedHumphreys, Lloyd G. – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1982
Sternberg (1981) presented correlations based on independent samples of about 25 cases each with a statistical comparison in a population parameter of zero and interpreted his results as if with appropriate tests. He needed to use a nonzero population parameter and compare for the difference between the z transformations. (Author/CM)
Descriptors: Hypothesis Testing, Intelligence Tests, Item Sampling, Psychological Studies
Peer reviewedSternberg, Robert J. – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1982
Sternberg's reply to paper Humphrey criticizes (see TM 507 045) includes: (1) invited position paper and detailed statistical testing would have been inappropriate; (2) Humphrey commits some of "misdeeds" of which he accuses Sternberg; (3) number of cases in the three nonentrenchment experiments are more than adequate for drawing conclusions; and…
