Jennings, Earl; Green, Janet L. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1984
The authors argue that a parameterization in terms of cell means is a useful conceptual device for resolving problems inherent in the nonorthogonal analysis of variance. They demonstrate their argument by considering two widely-used methods for testing main effects. (Author/BW)

Boyer, John E., Jr.; And Others – Journal of Educational Statistics, 1983
New tests for comparing the strength of association between a variable and each of two potential predictor variables are proposed and compared to an existing test in a simulation study. Recommendations for use are made. (Author/JKS)

Russell, V. Jean – Australian Journal of Education, 1976
The speech products of 104 young adult Melbourne males were analyzed in order to determine whether the linguistic dimensions of the speech product bear a necessary relationship to the cognitive dimensions. (Editor)

Jacob, P. – Langages, 1976
After presenting a counter-example to Popper's thesis against induction, the importance is stressed of reinforcing the degree of confirmation of a hypothesis. (Text is in French.) (CDSH/AM)

Kennedy, Charlotte A. – 2002
The use of and emphasis on statistical significance testing has pervaded educational and behavioral research for many decades in spite of criticism by prominent researchers in this field. Much of the controversy is caused by lack of understanding or misinterpretations. This paper reviews criticisms of statistical significance testing and discusses…

Rochowicz, John A. – 1999
The use of technology such as computers and programmable calculators enables students to find p-values and conduct tests of hypotheses in many different ways. Comprehension and interpretation of a research problem become the focus for statistical analysis. This paper describes how to calculate chisquare statistics and p-values for statistical…

Kristof, Walter – Psychometrika, 1972
This paper is devoted to the study of a certain statistic, u, defined on samples from a bivariate population with two variances and correlation p. (Author)

Gaito, John – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1973
Study discusses the four possible ways to test null hypotheses: multivariate tests, usual univariate F test, Box's univariate approximate F test, Geisser and Greenhouse univariate conservative F test. (Author/CB)

Conrad, Carol – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1972
This paper suggests that although there is reasonable evidence to support that portion of the Collins-Quillian theory of semantic memory which hypothesizes that words are ordered hierarchically in memory, there is little evidence in support of their hypothesis of cognitive economy of storage in memory.
